Here's a fun little thing. If you've been to see the utterly superb Watchmen (or if you've read the book - which you really should do), and if you're familiar with the cartoons made in the Eighties and Nineties, this is an enjoyable parody video thingy. Apologies, I haven't figured out how to embed a YouTube video on this thing. YET.
Enjoyable!

THE SOUND OF THE SOUND OF THE BUBBLEWRAP
Today we are editing our sound to a rough cut of the video track in GarageBand and Ableton Live
We mixed some sound and music to some rough animation sequences; here is Ryans; silent areas of the sequence have been unedited; these sequences will be passed onto Jackie for a final edit.

STOP MOTION TESTING
YOU CAN COMMENT NOW AS ANONOMOUS USERS (but write yr 1st name so we know who you are:))
We worked in the conference room at FACT and tried out some more complicated animations with chairs. Have a look at it on vimeo below. Wayne, Ryan, Ali and Karen all took turns directing to produce this piece. Weve used "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. as a soundtrack as the beat happened to fit the animation rhythm... We also had to use I Can Animate on the Mac as Framethief failed to see the DV camera...

We also discussed plans for next week. We feel we are at a point ready to start on our large scale project using the STATIC gallery workspace, but we will be meeting at FACT still on Feb 6th from 11am as usual as it may not be available for us yet. We may have to do some planning next week, more animation work to test our 'system' and perhaps prepare some audio; a HEADSOUND sample bank might be good to start on although obviously we will be making the animation first and editing the sound 'to' the visual content.
It may also be good to test out using shredded paper to create the effect of a large creature made of rubbish coming out of the floor and disappearing again...
Please comment below on ideas for materials to use. Ive proposed this so far
Ali's mums car
Ross' car (subject to Paul (& Ali's mum!) @ Static's permission obviously! Thinking on he may object! although it should not affect people working in there; lets see what he says)
Cardboard boxes
Chairs
Large amounts of shredded paper.
