YOU CAN COMMENT NOW AS ANONOMOUS USERS (but write yr 1st name so we know who you are:))
We worked in the conference room at FACT and tried out some more complicated animations with chairs. Have a look at it on vimeo below. Wayne, Ryan, Ali and Karen all took turns directing to produce this piece. Weve used "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. as a soundtrack as the beat happened to fit the animation rhythm... We also had to use I Can Animate on the Mac as Framethief failed to see the DV camera...
PAPER CHAIRS from Head Sound on Vimeo.
We also discussed plans for next week. We feel we are at a point ready to start on our large scale project using the STATIC gallery workspace, but we will be meeting at FACT still on Feb 6th from 11am as usual as it may not be available for us yet. We may have to do some planning next week, more animation work to test our 'system' and perhaps prepare some audio; a HEADSOUND sample bank might be good to start on although obviously we will be making the animation first and editing the sound 'to' the visual content.
It may also be good to test out using shredded paper to create the effect of a large creature made of rubbish coming out of the floor and disappearing again...
Please comment below on ideas for materials to use. Ive proposed this so far
Ali's mums car
Ross' car (subject to Paul (& Ali's mum!) @ Static's permission obviously! Thinking on he may object! although it should not affect people working in there; lets see what he says)
Cardboard boxes
Chairs
Large amounts of shredded paper.
(recycled paper from FACT, shredded)

Hi,
Just saying sorry I missed today. Dissertation crunchtime, see here.
I hope I can make next time, but will be at least two hours late.

Eep, looks like we can't all post comments. Howzabout allowing anonymous postings, and we can say who we are?
Right, okay, erm, ideas later, but for now, how come that chair video isn't looping? It was yesterday...
Hmm will try fix post settings tonight

Hi Christoph no worries get your head down and finish it.
Ryan; We can all post as anonomouse posters if we dont have blog and google accounts. But mayb use yr first name...
Yeah it was not only looping but was half the length weird; think its because i pasted a quicktime video track on top of the MIA track and its left a 'ghost' time length of the complete track even though theres only a small section of video...
Looking at it again it made me think the rhythm of the music allowed us to have a jerky style; it wasnt really smooth how things move but it was consistent.. it means we could still make quite a long film despite how time consuming it can be. I felt by the end we had a system going that meant we worked pretty quick.
Im in Static tomorrow so will see if this week is possible but will discuss with jackie and check thats ok.
Dont forget we will still meet at FACT on Friday 6th
Ross
Hi, I just thought - - how about we use the soundscapes from the sound project as the backing 'music' for the animation project?? We could add sound effects for what is happening in the animation over the top, of course...
Karen.
